A new political party "Elpis" has been established in Cyprus. The party sees one of its main tasks in the active development of ties with Russia. This was publicly announced by the leader of the organization Andreas Theofilaktou.

"Hope - this is the name of our political party. And this is the hope to be with the Russian people again... A lot can happen when you have a united country like Russia on your side. I realize that we are a small country, but Cyprus is at a strategic point. It is not by chance that the British still have bases on our island. So the alliance with Russia will have a mutually beneficial effect," Theofilaktou told the Kremlin's RIA Novosti news agency on 12.03.2024

“Elections to various authorities will be held in Cyprus on June 9. The Elpis party will nominate its candidates for local municipalities. There are many Russians living in Cyprus who have married citizens of this country or opened businesses on the island. But Cypriots have a lot to lose because of the sanctions, above all the tourism business suffers," said Theofilaktou.

Andreas Theofilaktou is known for his extreme right-wing views.

The first meeting of the party's politburo was held on January 9.

On February 10, Andreas Theofilaktou and Marios Fotiou visited Armenia, where they laid flowers at the monument in the central square of Yerevan.

The ceremony was attended by sanctioned Russian MP Vitaly Milonov (second from right).

Marios Fotiou (third from left) is a close friend and confidant of Milonov in Cyprus. In April 2017, together with Milonov, Marios Fotiou visited the occupied territory of Ukraine - the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic".

Russian State Duma deputy Milonov, in the company of Cypriot Fotiou, delivered clothes, medicines, radios and telescopic sights for small arms to pro-Russian terrorists.

On February 26, after a meeting with Milonov, Andreas Teofilaktou submitted documents for party registration to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In early March, Andreas Theofilaktou attended a Kremlin-organized recruitment and propaganda event called the "World Youth Festival" held in Sochi in  March 1-7.

On March 12, Andreas Theofilaktou gave an interview to the Kremlin propaganda publication RIA Novosti in which he stated his desire to be with the Russian people and actively develop ties with Russia.

There is no doubt that this is a special operation by the russian special services to infiltrate their agents into various levels of government in Cyprus.

Such a special operation involving such a person as Milonov can only be carried out with the authorization of the FSB leadership and with the participation of the russian embassy.
